SATURDAY’S GAMES W AIR AKA DEFEATS POROPORO Two senior and two junior games were played at the Domain on Saturday. The weather was fine and the grounds were in better condition than they had been for some time. Both the senior and junior United teams won their matches by good margins. and Wairaka seniors defeated Poroporo in a bright game. The yellow team is much improved of late and has given st good account of itself on several occasions. In the junior section interesting football was also noticed. JUNIOR GAMES WAIMANA 9, POROPORO 8 A hard game. Both teams did their utmost, Waimana to hold their lead and Poroporo to make up the few points between the scores. For the winners A. Bell scored two tries and Addison put in a spectacular run down the field to score the other. For Poroporo J. Paul and C. Morrison each scored and M. Tiepa converted. Mr Breward was referee. UNITED 36,- WAIRAKA 0 United had a walkover victory over the yellow team who have slipped badly since last week. United scored 12 points in the first half. Scorers were: Edmondson (2), Curran, Carling (2), Skelton, Taylor, Rutherford and Chadwick (2).. Carling converted two and Chadwick one. Mr Mitchell was referee.

SENIOR FIELDS UNITED 32, WAIMANA 0 United had an easy victory over the red team. The first half was rather tough going and the halftime score was 6 —o. In the latter portion the white team really went to work and quickly piled up the points. The first score came after a scrum. White hooked and the ball went along the back line in fine style, but it missed. Soon after McGougan took another on the Waimana 25 and it went over. United 6, Waimana 0. Both teams were on their mettle. McGougan put the Rail to the ground

United 3, Waimana 0. United were awarded a penalty United tried hard to go over again but the Red defence held. There was no alteration in the score before halftime. United threw themselves into the fray with renewed vigour but every inch of Waimana territory was keenly contested. It was a losing battle though and Don Stewart was the next to score. He forced beside the post and McGougan converted. United 11, Waimana 0. The white forwards took the situation in hand and dribbled the ball well into red territory. A Waimana player picked the ball up and kicked for touch. Hunt was there, collected the ball and scored between the posts. McGougan put the kick over. ' United 16, Waimana 0. The St. John officers had a busy time for a while. Three players were injured within a few minutes of each other but all carried on after receiving attention. Cave was the next to score. From a lineout on the Waimana 25 the white backs took possession and got away down the field. Cave went over and the kick missed. United 19, Waimana 0.,* score and a conversion put United further ahead.

Play was in Waimana. territory and a red player cleared. Hunt took it, kicked and followed up. He scored between the posts and converted his own try. United 29, Waimana 0. McGougan put in a superb kick to take the last three points. The ball apeared to be placed inside the halfway mark ten yards in from the ! sideline. It was a great kick and brought the final score to: United 32, Waimana 0. Mr J. Keepa was referee. WAIRAKA 14, POROPORO 0. Biddle, who was injured last week,, was again on the field and played his usual good game. From the kick off, Poroporo took the offensive and carried play into Wairaka territory. Biddle tried for a penalty just outside the yellow 25 but missed. Wairaka cleared but play came back and blue went over from a scrum on the line. From a lineout blue again went over. A five yards scrum was ordered.

From a 25 Wairaka followed through fast and dribbled the ball through the blue defence. Tihi Crapp forced, and the kick missed. Wairaka 3, Poroporo 0.

The yellow pack swept down again and went over but a five yards scrum was ordered. Play continued very hard but there was no alteration in the scores before, halftime.

The yellow backs put in a good run and M._Riini forced in the corner. The kick missed^ Wairaka 6, Poroporo 0.

Lafferty took the ball through at his feet and T. Crapp scored. The blue team rushed the kick. Wairaka 9; Poroporo 0.

Two penalties were awarded WaL raka within a few minutes of each other but both missed.
