She cabled her husband’s home: “Arriving tomorrow,” only to be told on arrival “Leslie' has been sent to the ’Middle East.” , Her informants did not know that 23-year-old Gunner Leslie Woods had been suddenly given demobilisation leave and at that moment was arriving at Dover—bound for home.
