Brother to Excellency A yearling brother to the winning two year old Excellency, has been sold bv his Southland breeder, Mr W. T. Oliver, to Mr G. J. Barton, of Dunedin, as agent, for a Melbourne sportsman at 2000 guineas. Trained at Tauranga Mr A. J. Kernot, owner of Brown Atom, has the two year old Venerable by Orelio—Albanella, galloping into form. His third at Matamata to Monty and Golden Beau, was a creditable effort.
Master Ring i Master Ring, a full brother to that fine steeplechaser, Master Meruit, is being schooled over big jumps at Gisborne, and is showing good promise. He will be contesting steeplechase events in the winter. Showing Progress The hurdler, Centennial, made a re-appearance at the Matamata fixture. Ridden by McKinnon he ran a good race until he toppled over at the third hurdle from home. The Course Should Suit
The Coronach—Queen Brierly representative, Ascot Lad, is to make his next appearance under colours at Te Aroha, and should show his galloping ability on a track devoid of sting.
