THE A. AND P. SHOW
WHAKATANE'S district A. and P. Show takes place on Saturday. We gather from the secretary that in many sections there are record entries, particularly the pig section, where it is anticipated there will be on show the finest range ever seen in these parts. The Jersey section is also strong, while in other directions the cattle and horse entries are well up to those received in past years. It appears that the show will be one of the best on the Associations calendar. The actual judging is timed to start at 9 a.m. in order that the public which it is confidently expected will be in greater presence than ever, can be given immediate points of interest. Every garage and car agency in the district is represented in the trade exhibits together with most of the town's leading business houses. By way of adding a popular touch to the proceedings a girl's marching contest has been inaugurated, and four teams are expected to compete for a 15 guinea trophy and silver medallions. The two bands will be present and 'side'-show alley' will be bigger than ever. The show invites interested patrons from town and country and it is confidently expected that this year it will be accorded the fullest support and patronage.
