TANEATUA FAREWELL COMMITTEE ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Tane>atua Farewell Committee was held in the Sports Pavilion on Wednesday, June 7. As this was the first annual meeting, the minutes of the first meeting of. the committee were read and confirmed. The president, Mxs Mitchell, then read her report in which she stated that approximately 24 boys and one lady had been farewelled from the Tancatua district during the year. To the next-of-kin of 14 boys who had left the district without being farewelled, before this committee was formed, a gift of £2 had been sent to be forwarded. Parcels containing home-made cakes, etc. had been sent to all the local boys serving overseas. Mrs Mitchell thanked the Young People's Committee for their invaluable help with the dances., and members of the Farewell Committee for their support.. The report and balance sheet, which showed a substantial credit balance were adopted as read. The election of officers resulted as 1'oIIoays:— President: Mrs Mitchell. Vice-president: Mrs Merrle. Secretary and Treasurer: Mrs Gardner. Committee: Last year's committee was re-elected, with the addition of three new members Mrs Shaw, Miss Leslie and Miss Print., Ft was decided to form a joint account of the Farewell and Parcels Funds, but to keep a separate tally of each in the cash book. It was also decided to send £1 to next-of-kin of prisoners of war, as a contribution to parcels. After a discussion on various points in connection with future dances, the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
