RACING NOTES

« POVERTY BAY MEETING For the Poverty Bay meeting to be held by the Tc Arolia Jockey Club on May 15 l'arge entries ave practically assured. The two hurdle events are already creating much interest, and among the nominations are likely to be a goodly percentage of Great Northern candidates, RACING INTO FORM Golden Survey, now being raced into form accounted for a double at the Ngaruawaliia meeting. Last season the Surveyor-General Comet mare won six races and registered two seconds. This season she has not been racing prominently, but her Ngaruawaliia victories denote a return to form. ON THE EASY LIST Noble Eagle, who has been on the easy list since the Te Arolia meeting in February, will be seen out again 'shortly, and with a share of luck is likely to make up for lost time. NOT IN It would appear that King Rey is not to make a return to the turf with, the colours up. If he could have survived a strong preparation he would have been one®of the leading favourites for the. Brighton Hurdles, for lie would not be meeting strong opposition. NATIVE CHIEF IN JUNE Although the engagement "of * Native Chief in the Brighton Hurdles was declined he is executing good work on the tracks, and is. a likely contestant for the Easter Northern meeting in June. HOLDING HIS CONDITION During the present " season the Matamata trained Neenah lias done a goodly share of racing ,and on two occasions lis travelled as. far] south as Trentham. He is pow well up in the weights, but is holding his dacing condition really well. MOULDING INTO FORM * The Bulandshar colt, Travancore, is now galloping in fine style on the Hastings tracks. If he scores a win in due course he will probably rejoin R. S. Bagby's team at Ellerslie. THE REVERSE WAY Before, being brought to Auckland from Awapuni to race in the Great Northern Oaks Alethea had been worked for a fortnight the reverse v,ay, and soon showed pace under the new order of right-handed galloping. A SPEEDY FILLY The Broiefort—Lucky filly, Broieviene, has been. re-commission-ed at New Plymouth. She is showing plenty of speed on the tracks and should soon be. in the money again. WELL IN CREDIT As a yearling Olg'a's Pal Avas: purchased for 200 guineas. As a two year old he has won £1570,50 his ledger account, is well in credit. NOW IN AUSTRALIA Progeny of Mr Standfast have loomed large in this Dominion's racing this season. Since two years ago this horse was purchased by an Australian stud-master, and two year olds by Mr Standfast will be racing on the other side next spring STILL IN AMERICA Some two j r ears' ago Mr J. G. Alexander, of Wanganui, purchased in England the stallion Neptune, b3 r Hyperion, who oh account of shipping restrictions is still in America. He may not reach New Zealand until after the Avar. RETURNING TO N.Z. That big stake earner Beau Vitc, OAvned by the Ralph Stewart Estate, Wellington, is expected back in New Zealand from Australia in the near future, and Avill be located in Masterton. REPRESENTATIVES OF DINK In the second division of. the Nursery Handicap representatives of the Otahuhu sire,. Dink, finished first and second. They were Doll Dinks and Sir Dink. Next season quite a number of the Dink family Avili be racing and. doubtless will take their part, capably.
