A Taneatua Drainage Problem

Waiting on the Whakatane County Council last ■week in connection with more adequate drainage of a low-lying section of his farm Mr F. K. Brown described the difficulties which attended his efforts owing to the fact that so much surlace water from neighbouring land was pooling there. The council took a sympathetic view and decided to have an inspection made by the Works Committee following the engineers investigation of the position.

The heaviest fall occurred on May 2nd, with 1.45 inches. The total for four months of the j-ear to date is now 10.49 inches against 8.37 for the. same period last year. April 1942 measured 2.77 inches. For Whakatane over the same month 4.02 inches were registered.
