THREE DAY TOURNEY

whakatane bowling club BETTER WEATHER CONDITIONS The three day tournament for the Thomas Francis Cup held annually at the various club centres throughout the Bay of Plenty was held, this year at Whakatane and in spite of benzine and travel restrictions attracted an entry of 14 teams. The greens were in splendid condition and in spite of adverse weather conditions played remarkably Avell. All games were keenly contested and some excellent bowling was seen. Mr S. McLeod, the president of the Bay of Plenty Bowling Centre, in a brief opening address welcomed the visitors wishing them good bowling and hoped that the best team would win. At the conclusion of the tournament Mr McLeod .presented the Cup and trophies to the winning rink, skipped by Mr A. E. Manning, Te Puke, and congratulated both the winners and runners-up (A. C. King, Whakatane) on their wonderful performance, in going through their sections unbeaten.
