"Thornton School 'The breaking-up function of the Thornton School took the form of a • concert in the Thornton Hall. Items by the children were thoroughly :appreciated by the large gathering •of parents and friends. The entertainment reflected much credit on the teachers, Mr Bird and Miss McDonald, and on the youthful performers. A special treat for the younger children of the district was a visit to the school on the last day of the term by Father Christmas, who distributed gifts: from a -splendid Christmas tree to the chil--dren of the lower classes.
