o HARBOUR BOARD FIRM CONDITIONS MUST BE CARRIED OUT Thd Whakatane Harbour Board at its meeting on Friday discussed the conditions on which it was prepared to grant an area of mudflats to the borough for a rubbish dump. The board decided that it would maintain its conditions that tanks and tins be crushed and the dump covered with spoil as it was extended. Correspondence on the matter, including a letter from the Health Department, was read. The chairman said that they had discussed the matter with the borough and they then understood that the borough agreed to the harbour board conditions. The borough now as much as said that the harbour board had agreed to them filling the dump in their own way. They did not want to crush the tins and tanks deposited there. Mr R. Ruddick said that if the tins were not crushed the dump would be a breeding place for rats and surclj T the borough did not want this.
