CLUB HAS GOOD YEAR THE PRESIDENT'S REPORT Reference to the loss the club had sustained in the death of Mr Thomas Mitchell, a very active and good club member was made Avhen Mr R.. Ruddick, president of the Taneatua Bowling Club, presented his report to the annual meeting of the club recently. Members stood in silence in memory of Mr Mitchell. CLUB IN CREDIT Mr Ruddick continued that the club had fared well financially, and a small credit at the beginning of the season had grown to quite a good sum. Revenue had been a record, and there had been an increase in membership, with every prospect of more members next season. Receipts from the ladies of the croquet club had also increased j and thanks were due to that club. Other sources of ievenuc also showed an,increase. The club had been faced with heavy labour expenses and running costs and upkeep had also increased greatly, but with the help and cooperation of the croquet club, and the assistance given by some of the members in maintaining the revenue, they could confidently look forward to the club's financial position being safely maintained. UPKEEP OF GREENS Greens were closed for play on April 15 to enable them to be thoroughly topdressed before it was too late, but nothing could be done as owing to the hardness of the ground they l could not get the soil until the middle of May. On May 15 a working bee was held, and a considerable a. mount of work done! Labour was later engaged to complete the job. The greens had now been topdressed. The woodwork needed attention, nut that could be attended to before the opening of next season. MATCHES The club played the usual Shield games with Whakatane, and «vas hUCcessful in regaining the trophy for a, season. The Opotiki clubs were visited on Boxing Day, but they were unable to return the visit owing to rain on Anniversary Day. Club competitions were keenly contested. and he congratulated the several winners, and also further con gratulated the club champion on retaining the Ferguson Cup. He thanked the committee for t^ e i r loyal support during the season.
