SICK LEAVE The Whakatane Harbour Board went into committee at its meeting jon Friday when it discussed, the ques tion of, sick pay to members of the staff. In the case of Mr Ward, who is at present in hospital it was decided to grant him 12 months' leave of absence with one month's full pay and one month's half-pay. General sympathy was expressed to Mr Ward in his illness. A fortnight's sick pay was granted to Mr McKenzie the wharfinger. NO CONTRIBUTION A letter asking for a donation to the Dominion Court at the Centennial Exhibition wag under discussion at the meeting of the Whakatane Harbour Board in Whakatane on Friday. It did not meet with a very good reception. The letter said that bodies like the Auckland Harbour Board and the Auckland Power Board were making donations. The chairman pointed out that these bodies did not rate. They were healthy bodies. Furthermore Whakatane was probably making a big contribution i through wharfages paid to the Auckland Harbour Board.
