FURTHER FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR
N.Z. LIBRARY SURVEY PLANNED
Due to arrive in New Zealand early in the New Year as a research scholar under the Fulbright scheme is Miss Miriam D. Tompkins, assistant professor of library service at Columbia University, New York, and co-author of “Helping Adults to Learn,” which was published by the American Library Association. Miss Tompkins, whose project in the Dominion will be a survey of libraries on the lines of that already undertaken in the United States, will work in association with the New Zealand Library Association. Educated at Yale, the University of Chicago, and the University of WisI consin (where she graduated M.A.) Miss Tomkins taught and worked in Milwalkee, both at the State Teachers’ College and in the Public Library, also in the New York Public Library. She has travelled extensively in Europe, and published numerous books, reviews and articles.
