SALE OF PETROL ON WEEKENDS
QUESTION FOE RESELLERS TO SOLVE (P.a ) Wellington, Oct. 28. Although a 1947 order restricting Saturday morning petrol sales to emergency cases will be revoked Mondav, regulations restricting sales on Saturday afternoons, Sundays and after normal business hours on other days will remain in force. Retailers will still have to keep a register of urgent sales outside standard hours. The New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association says that the decision on Saturday morning sales will be a matter for resellers in each district. Because resellers will be called on to pay penal wage rates for Saturday morning work and have staffing difficulties, it is unlikely that there will be much extension of trading hours.
