Grass Courts Opening Tomorrow
Tauranga Tennis Club's Bright Prospects
(By "Forehand")
With the official oening of the Tauranga Lawn Tennis Club's courts tomorrow tennis will be officially under way for grass court players for the 1949-50 season.
The prospects for the coming season are good. Although the club will be losing Jim Aitkenhead who has been No. 1 player for the past three seasons, they will also be gaining three new outstanding players in Jack Scotland. Dr Salmond and lan Thompson.
The women's standard should be slightly improved by the advent of quite a few new members the most notable of whom are Norine Reader, Mrs Scotland and two junior players C. Parkinson and K. Christie.
