Tribute To Greek Government

Difficult Tasks Well Handled Full-Scale War" Only One Of Problems (Rec. 3.35 a.m.) London, Sept. 11. The former chief of the American Aid Mission in Greece said in Athena today that the way the Greek Government had handled the difficult tasks of the past year justified considerable confidence in the future. The Government, he said, had been faced with the almost impossible task of conducting a full scale war, of looking after 750,000 refugees, carrying out a big reconstruction programme, and still keeping financially stable. Despite all this, he said, price levels v had been held steady. There were prospects of good crops of wheat and olives and, mere important still, the refugees were returning to their homes. The official will soon be leaving Greece for his new post as Chief of the E.C.A. Mission in Belgium. An Athens announcement says that the Greek Army has continued its round-up of the scattered rebel forces in Northern Gieece, where a new arms dumn has been found in the Grammes Mountains.
