Only One In Six British Farms Are Making A Profit
Only farms of more than 250 acres, or one in every six, made a profit in 1947-48, says a report published by the National Farmers' Union and Bristol University's Agricultural Economics Branch. The report, which surveys 80,000 acres of southern Britain, adds that farms of under 250 acres arc being run very often at a loss. It says: "If this land is to become profitable, it must be fenced und ditched and road grids must I be laid clown.
