WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Not the least important task of office staffs of shows and fairs is the finding of parents for children who get lost in crowds. Every year the office staff of the New Zealand Industries Fair in Christchurch has to deal with a host of lost children, says "The Press." Usually children are lost when the crowds are thickest. Within an hour of the fair's opening recently, three children had reported themselves as lost, and had been restored'to parents. The fourth and last lost child was quite a problem. He knew his Christian name but little else. His Christion name was broadcast throughout the barracks, and within a few minutes two small boys, hardly taller than the lost one, came to the office and took- away the cause of the trouble. Their remark as they left the office was: "Your name's not George, it's Jimmy." The office staff is still puzzled as to how the brothers or friends identified the lost boy when the wrong name was broadcast.
