FARMERS ELECT NEW PRESIDENT
MR J, D. ALACH SUCCEEDS MR MORRIS
OFFICERS OF BAY OF PLENTY PROVINCE
"I am keenly interested in Federated Farmers," said Mr J. D. Alach, who was elected to the presidency of the Bay of Plenty branch of the New Zealand organisation at its annual meeting on Friday. It was his belief that the farmers must organise in order to get justice, he added, and to try to work in co-operation with other sections of the community. Mr Alach stated that it was disheartening for chairmen who were obliged to preside over meetings which few attended, such as had been the case at previous meetings of the branch. Mr W. Morris, who relinquished the office, declined renomination for health reasons. Other officers elected were: Vicepresidents, Messrs V. E. Johns and S. Tollemache; secretary, Mr E. J. L. Vosper; delegate to association, Mr J. D. Alach; delegates to Meat and Wool Board, Mr W. Morris; Dairy Section, Mr W. I. Rushtdn; executive, Messrs G. Carmichael, H. Oliver, D. Hulton, T. RMder, J. Jefferson, W. I. Rushtcn, W. Morris.
