BURMESE FORCES SUCCESSFUL
KARENS SURROUNDED NEAR RANGOON London, March 17. In Burma Government forces have been attacking rebel troops near an Irrawaddy Delta port. A communique says that heavy casualties have been inflicted upon the rebels there. The Karen troops surrounded at Insein, near Rangoon, have not replied to the Government offer for an armistice which expired today. An official spokesman said the Government was launching an attack against them.
