“The Corporation will be introducing new and improved schedules serving Tauranga on March 28,” states a letter received from ■ the National Airways Corporation by the Tauranga Chamber of Commerce at its monthly meeting on Tuesday night. “After that date,” the letter continues, “a Lodestar wll 1 leave Tauranga at 9.10 a m. on weekdays, and. after providing passengers two and a-half hours in Auckland, will allow return travel, reaching Tauranga at 3.30 p.m.. This flight from Gisborne departs at 8 a.m. and reaches Tauranga at 9 a.m.” The letter was in replv to criticism made by the chamber at its February meeting, of the air service provided between Tauranga and Auckland, which did not enable a daily return trip to be made.

An earlier letter from the National Airways Corporation stated that the present schedule of Airwavs services ca’ling at Tauranga, of wh'ch the chamber had expressed its concern, was brought about by a temporary shortage of Lodestar aircraft. The timetable, the letter stated, was only current until March 26. Commencing on March 28, the fallowing schedule would be introduced.
