Entries For Impromptu Display

Exhibitors Commended By Judge

In spite of adverse weather conditions, an impromptu Flower Show held at Omanawa attracted more than 100 entries. A special bus brought visitors from Mount Maunganui, Tauranga and Gate Pa. There was also a number of visitors and exhibitors from Tauriko. The judges were Mr and Mrs C. Ridder.

When opening the exhibition, the president of the Omanawa Women’s Institute, Mrs W. 11. Jensen, explained lho circumstances which led to the concellation of the Flower Show as previously arranged. She extended a welcome to all present and expressed thanks for the generous co-operation of both exhibitors and visitors. Mr C. Ridder commended the exhibitors on their effort, stating that it was a very good display considering the condition of the weather,' and the hurried decision to carry on with an impromptu show. Following afternoon tea Mrs W. H. Jensen and Miss R. Lawson presented the prizes as follows: Champion bloom (special prize awarded by Mr£ P. H. Jensen),*Mrs A, P. Jensen 1, Mrs C. Standen runner-up.
