Woman’s Fall To Death From Auckland Building

(P.A.) Auckland, March 1. A woman, whose identity has not yet been established, was killed when she fell from the eighth floor parapet of the building of New Zealand Newspapers, Limited, For: Street, shortly before noon today. The woman was unknown to any of the employees. She had a small box camera, and after telling an assistant that she had been given permission to go +o the roof to take a photograph of the Aaorangi leaving port, she was taken to the roof in the lift. Always kept locked, the door leading to the roof was opened by the assistant, who walked on to the roof with the woman. The woman walked to the paranet on the side overlooking the harbour with the camera in her hand. For a moment the assistant’s attention was attracted in another direction. and when he looked back he saw the woman leaning over the paranet. Then, without saying a word, she fell to the road below, a height of about 10D feet. Detective F. N. Shannon was also a passenger in the lift when the wotr'in ascended, and he alighted at the floor below the roof.
