Last month’s weather returns for the Tauranga district, recorded at the Tauranga Aerodrome, show an all-round deterioration for summer weather conditions, as compared with last year. Less sunshine, an increase in rain and cooler temperatures were recorded. The greatest discrepancy in the returns was in the number of sunshine hours. The total- for last month was 188.5 hours compared with 254.6 hours in 1948, making a deficiency of almost two hours 25 minutes in each of the 28 days. With 3.67 inches falling on nine clays this year, the Tauranga district was more favourable olaced for rain, only .79 inches falling on 10 days in February, 19-18. The heaviest fall this month cccured on February 16 with 2.62 inches recorded, compared with .38 inches recorded on February 24. last year.
