ELDERLY MIGRANTS FOR AUSTRALIA
REMOVAL (W UPPER AGE LIMIT
Six people in their sixties and one 79-ycars sailed in the latent allmigrant ship, “Somersetshire” leaving Liverpool for-. Australia. All will settle in the sub-tropical State of Queensland. Oldest is 79-year-old Mrs H. L. Ferguson, from Winchester Road, Bassett, Southampton, who is travelling with her son.
The party of veterans is ab l e to go to Australia under the official scheme because of the recent removal by the Australian Minister for Immigration, Mr Calwell, of the upper age limit for elderly people migrating with, or to join, relatives in Australia.
