Further Stretch Of Tar Sealing At Maunganui
Completion Before Busy Period Work To End At Raima Railway Station The many thousands of visitors who flock to the district over the Christmas period and have to travel by road to Mount Maunganui will, with other road users, welcome the additional improvements to the highway near Mount Maunganui. When the present sealing programme is carried out by the department, a modern highway will be provided from the Kairua Railway Station to Mount Maunganui. The work will be completed within the next two weeks. '
A small portion from the railway station at Kairua to where the road joins the highway near the Rocky Cutting, will remain to be sealed when the present project, is completed. The remainder of the sealed link should be completed next year. Construction work on portions of the highway to the Kaimais will be continued preparatory to sealing.
