FIFTY YEARS AGO
The following items of interest are taken from the Bay of Plenty Times of 50 years ago:—
Captain West resumed charge of the Katikati on Friday last. Although sufficiently recovered to resume his duties, he is not yet quite well.
A dramatic company under the management of Mrs Stokes have engaged the Theatre Royal for three days during December.
The westerly wind continues to scourge the countryside and growing fruit is being ruthlessly shaken from the trees in large quantities.
Tomorrow being the Prince of Wale’s birthday, it will be a public holiday and there will be no issue of this paper on that day.
