BOROUGH OF TAURANGA RATES PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Tauranga Borough Council in pursuance of its powers under "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," and 'The Rating Act, 1925," with their respective amendments and all the other powers enabling it in that behalf, intends at a meeting of the Council to be held in the Council Chambers, Willow Street, after fourteen days from the date hereof, to make and levy for the year which commenced on the first day of April, 1948, and ends on the 31st day of March, 1949, the following rates, viz:— 1. Rates totalling 6 50/64 pence in the £ (to be called an amalgamated rate in the rate book and rate demand) being the following General Rate, 4 18/64d. Hospital Rate, 1 48/64d. Special Rates as follows: — Loans Conversion, 1934 No. 2 (Pt.) £7355 and £16,770 (Streets) 4 11/64d pence in the £; amount to be collected 38/64d.

Loans Conversion, ' 1934 No. 3 (pt.) £7630 (Streets) 13/32 pence in the £; amount to be collected 10/64d. 2. Water Rates as follows, in respect of ordinary supply:— A Kate of sixteen sixty-fourths of a penny (16/64d) in the £ provided that if such rate would produce less than 10/- a charge of 10/- will be made and upon all land and buildings to which water can be but is not supplied situate within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks and upon all buildings used as stores or warehouses or for any purpose other than as dwelling houses one-half the respective water rates above mentioned. On the unimproved value of all rateable property appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force for the Borough of Tauranga. 3. A uniform annual sanitation fee of 12/6 made under Sec. 90 Municioal Corporations Act 1933.

ALSO that the above rates will be payable to R. B. SHEARMAN Borough Treasurer, at the office of the Tauranga Borough Councii, Willow Street, Tauranga, in one sum on the eighteenth day of August, 1948, and for extraordinary water supply the rates fixed by the Council under the Borough by-laws payable to R. B. SHEARMAN, Borough Treasurer, at the aforesaid office on the eighteenth day of August, 1948, except where otherwise provided by the bv-iaws. AND NOTICE IS HEREBY ALSO GIVEN that the Valuation Roll is now open for inspection during office hours at the Borough Council Office situated in Willow Street, Tauranga, and that an estimate prepared in accordance with Section 79 of "The Municipal Corporations Act. 1933," of the proposed expenditure of the Tauranga Borough Council for the period for which the rates are to be made and approved by the said Council will be open for inspection during office hours at the same place on and after the fifth of July, 1948.
