A Tauriko table tennis team met the Railway team recently in an association draw match, staged in the Tauriko Hall,
Although many hard-fought threeset games were witnessed, Tauriko proved too strong for Railway, winning the match' by 14 sets.' Tauriko did not play its three top men. The following is a summary of play, Tauriko results being mentioned first in each instance:—
Women’s A singles, 7. 1; men’s A singles. 5. 3; women’s B singles, 3, 5; men’s B singles. 3. 5: women’s A doubles, 4. 0; men’s A doubles, 2,2: women’s B doubles, 2,2; men’s B doubles, 2,2; A combines, 4,0; B combines. 3,1; total, Tauriko 35, Railway 21.
The Tauriko players were Mesdames I. Wade, G. Kiddie. D. McGregor, L. Allan, R. Grant; Misses E. Kiddie and H. B. McGregor: and Messrs J. Mclntosh, J. Grant, P. Grant, J. Scott, E. Ewington. J. Roberts, H. Johns, R. Moyle and N. Geraghty. Railway was represented by Mesdames E. Paton, J. Patrick, Jones, Ibbotson, Fergusson, Nicolls; Misses J. Ibbotson and Miss McQuarter; Messrs E. Paton. J. Patrick, A. White, R. Jones, M. Palmer, S. Beaumont, P. Liddle and L. Ibbotson.
