PLANT LIFE ON MARS
RUSSIAN ASTRONOMER'S STATEMENT BOTANICAL MAP TO BE DRAWN UP Plant life exists on the planet Mars without doubt, the Soviet astronomer. Grigori Tikhov, told Tass, the Soviet news agency. Observations on the changes of the planet's colour has given evidence of large tracts covered with evergreen plants fed by snow from the polar zones, he said. The astro-botanical section of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences, he added, would compare observations made by the world's astronomers on the changes of colour of the various sectors of the planet with the Martian calendar in order to draw up a botanical map of Mars.
