UTILISATION OF FUND
CASES OF NATIONAL CALAMITY
A move to have the earthquake fund used to cover all cases of national calamity was anticipated by Mr H. O. Lloyd, speaking at the monthly meeting of the Tauranga branch of Federated Farmers (Auckland Province). “We are still paying in to the fund,” Mr F. R. Merriman pointed out.
Mr R. A. McNaughton inquired whether compensation for those affected by the recent Gisborne floods had been discussed. The earthquake fund, he considered, should be utilised. Mr Lloyd replied that the result of negotiations with the ment would have to be awaited.
