(P.A.) Auckland, today. One positive case of infantile paralysis was reported in the Auckland Province yesterday. He was a boy aged three, from Piopio, who was admitted to the Waikato Hospital on Wednesday. A girl aged nine from Otorohanga was admitted as a suspect yesterday. A total of 87 positive cases have now been reported in the South Auckland health district. A child aged three months from Waiuku, who was admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Sunday, was classified yesterday as a suspect case. One patient was discharged, leaving in the hospital last night 44 positive cases, 40 of whom are convalescent, and six suspected cases. Two further suspect cases have been reported from the Hokianga County. They arc a man at Motukaraka and a Maori infant at Pawarenga. Both came from areas where previous cases have occurred. Three of four cases in the Tauranga Hospital have shown negative tests, but are suffering from slight muscle paralysis. They are a

girl aged six from Katikati, a boy aged six from Tauranga, and a girl aged 17 from To Puke. The fourth patient is a Maori boy from Pongakawa.

A boy aged seven from Castlecliff has been admitted to the Wanganui Hospital as a suspected case. This is the first admission to the hospital for some weeks. The four cases remaining in hospital are reported to be progressing satisfactorily. Three positive cases of infantile paralysis were diagnosed in Taranaki yesterday, bringing the total to 46 since November. There have been 11 cases in the past eight days. One patient is a day pupil at the New Plymouth Boys' High School, which has been closed, but boarders are remaining in residence.
