It had been, requested that the council should not make a charge against the hospital for the power supplied during these periods, but tnat the board should be charged wich the cost. "We were quite happy to supply the power and take a payment from the hospital," continued the Mayor. He exolained that the council had no authority to supply the board with the power and accept a payment from it. The Mayor moved that a reply should be 'sent to the board by the electricity committee. The council, h« elt should have on record what the position was. It was not a question of refusing to supply the hospital—it was a question of not breaking the law. Such a transaction would have been an illegal one.
