REVERSAL FOR MACARTHUR
CANDIDATES FOR PRESIDENCY Verdict Of General’s Home State Overwhelming Victory For Mr Stassen London, April 7. One of the prospective Republican candidates for the United States Presidency, Mr Harold Stassen, has won an overwhelming victory in the Wisconsin Republican primary elections. He appears to have gained the support of 20 of the 27 Wisconsin delegates to the Republican
National Convention, the remainder going to General MacArthur. The third candidate, Mr Dewey, got no support. A correspondent points out that this does not necessarily affect Mr Dewey’s chances, for he is strongly supported in many other parts of the country. But, says the correspondent, Wisconsin was General’s MacArthur’s home ground, and in view of .this reverse it is possible he may withdraw.
