MISHAP DELAYS EXPRESS
CARRIAGE DAMAGED AND REMOVED (P.A.) Auckland, Today. The front carriage of the afternoon express from Wellington to Auckland was derailed about 100 yards north of the Taihape station about 8.40 last night, and the express was held uo for an hour and a-half. No one was injured. The leading bogey of the car left the rails and some damage wascaused to the carriage, which v/as taken off at Taihape. An extra carriage was prepared at Taumarunui, to be added to the express if it was required when the train arrived there at 2.30 this morning. The guard of the express had reported that some of the passengers were having to stand in the corridors and that an extra car might be needed.
