REOPENING OF SCHOOLS
Situation In Auckland Area Cases Admitted To Hospital The possibility of reopening schools in the Auckland district is to be rc-exammed this week. The Minister of Health, Miss Howard, said last night that note had been taken of the apparently more isolated cases of infantile paralysis, and it was expected that a decision would be made by Wednesday. She added that the report of Auckland doctors and Health Department officers, who discussed the situation last week, had been considered in Wellington. A three-year-old child from the city who was admitted to the Auckland Hospital as a suspected case on Thursday wa's diagnosed as positive on Saturday morning. Another positive case was readmitted for further treatment. There were two suspects on Saturday. They were a girl of two years from Te Papapa and a v/oman from the city, who were admitted on Friday for other causes. There were no admissions or reclassifications yesterday. Fifty positive cases and two suspected cases were in the hospital last night. Two more suspected cases of infantile paralysis were reported in the South Auckland health district during the week-end. Both wore admitted to the Waikato Hospital. The patients were from Tc Hoe • and Benneydale.,
