MILITARY TRAINING IN SCHOOLS
CREATION OF NEW 'POST (P.A.) Wellington, April 2. The Minister of Defence. Mr Jones, stated today that the Directorate of Cadets and Rifle Clubs, to which Colonel J. I. Brooke has been appointed, was a new post and part of a plan to foster two important parts of military training in postprimary schools. There were more than 24,000 cadets, more per head of population than in any other country of the British Commonwealth, the Minister added. Also, since the war interest in rifle clubs had steadily increased, and there were now more than 3500 members in 160 active clubs.
