Evidence Before Security
Council
London, Jan. 15
The Security Council today heard India's case against Pakistan in the Kashmir dispute. The Indian delegate' said the situation in Kashmir was grave. The Government of India had never put the slightest pressure on Kashmir to accede to the Dominion and had made no plans to send military help to Kashmir before the Maharajah's accession. It was evident that the invaders who wore battledress and steel helmets, were being allowed to cross Pakistan territory, and that Pakistan officers were training the raiders who were using places in Pakistan as bases.
The Pakistan delegate said India had raised so many questions that he would like a little time to prepare his reply and an adjournment until Monday was suggested. Senator Warren Austin said the United States considered the matter urgent and the President of the council adjourned the session until tomorrow.
