FIFTY YEARS' AGO
The following items of interest are taken from the Bay of Plenty Times of 50 years ago:— A school of porpoises were seen in the harbour last evening. te One of our friends was pulling in a skiff to the Mount when suddenly several of the huge creatures appeared close to his boat, startling him somewhat. Work has been resumed on the Sisters S.C. Te Puke. As soon as a few sets of timber have been, put in the No. 2 drive, a new drive will be started for the purpose of cutting a reef which outcrops in another part of the property. Th'-' s.s. Kab’kati left. Tauranga for Mercury Bay on Sunday ni°ht, loaded up on Monday, left there that evening at 5 o’clock for this port, discharged her cargo before f) o’clock on Tuesday morning, and was ready for the fishing excursion at'that hour.
