A child from the south of the city, admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Monday as a suspected case of infantile paralysis, was diagnosed as a positive case yesterday. There was no further admissions. A man who had been a positive case was discharged on Monday. There were 51 positive cases and four suspected cases in the hospital last night, compared with 56 positive cases and six suspects last week. Since the epidemic broke out in November, the total number of positive cases reported in Auckland has reached 91, and for the Dominion 147.
No further developments have occurred in the South Auckland health district. Two children from Morrinsville and a girl of 17 from Frankton, who were admitted to the Waikato Hospital as suspects, have been found to be negative. The suspected case of infantile paralysis admitted to the Wellington Hospital on Monday evening has been diagnosed as negative.
