Safely Precautions Disregarded By Pilot Of Plane Shot Down In Java
London, July 31. It is stated in London'that the pilot of the Indian Dakota plane which was shot down in Java was warned before making the flight that if he did not follow the peacetime route he would make the journey at his own risk. Reports now received say that the aircraft did not follow the recognised route. The flight was not part of the arrangement the British authorities had made with the Dutch for the sending of Red Cross supplies. Reuter's correspondent had reported seeing th'e wreckage of the Dakota and says there were many bullet holes.; Dutch troops in Java have entered a principal Indonesian city and a Dutch correspondent describes the city as a smouldering ruin.
