WIN FOR POVERTY RAY POOR SHOWING BY BAY OF PLENTY Poverty Bay defeated Bay of Plenty by 131 runs on the first innings in the representative cricket match in Gisborne, thus winning the Rigden Shield for the first time in the three years during which the trophy has been at stake. Poverty Bay made 222 for eight wickets, declared, in the first innings (C. Praser 74, D. Cederwall 52). The Bav of Plenty batsmen were routed for 91 (Costello 29). The debacle was due mainly to the bowling of. Ra'bone, five for 39, and J. Barbour, four for 10. In its second innings Bay of Plenty lost nine wickets for 55. .... ... . •' .
