Victoria Street, Hamilton, was lined with people yesterday morning when the bands, interspersed with marching teams, 'took .part in a procession along, the main street. They were later conveyed to Claudelauds by bus and a programme of marching, playing, and running, events was held. .

Three of the bands were tvpm Auckland, the others coming from Whangarei, Dargaville, Tauranga, Whakatane, Ngaruawahia, Morr'ihsville and Rotorua. The girls' teanifj were from Auckland, Tauranga, Te Puke and Rotorua, as well as local entrants. At the conclusion of the events a massed parade of all .competitors marched in front of the grandstand. In charge of the marching was Warrant-Officer' I. J. Blackhall and Mr ,W. Miller was associated with him. |

■The girls' marching contest resulted: Raineters (Tauranga), 96 points, 1; Caledonians (Hamilton), 95J points, 2; Burgess (Tauranga), 95 points, 3. The Hamilton band team won the drumming competition. ; ■
