BAKER CUP COMPETITION Two Tauranga Club Teams Meet Nomads Gain Decisive Win

By defeating Tauranga, by 8 7 runs in the only cricket fixture played on the Domain on Saturday, Nomads avenged its defeat earlier in the season at the hands of its fellow team in the Tauranga Club and further increased its lead in the Baker Cup competition. Tauranga won the toss and L. Blvy sent Nomads in to bat first. The opening batsmen, A. Gallagher and B. Budd sent the team away to a good start, 37 runs being on the board before the former was out lbw. off J. Clarke's bowling. .Five wickets were down for S 3 runs when F. Willoughby joined Budd at the wicket and the score was carried to 126 before Willoughby was dismissed. When ,the last wicket fell five minutes before the allotted batting time 154 runs were on the board. B. Budd again showed-form with the bat and his total of 83 included one six and seven fours. Willoughby (16) Gallagher (16), and T. Pickett (14) were the only otlier batsmen to register double figures.

J. Clarke was the most successful bowler for Tauranga, securing six wickets for 43 runs off 17 overs. G. Sutherland captured two wickets for 48 runs.

When their turn came" to bat, Tauranga did not start at all well, two wickets falling with only nine runs on the board. A third-wicket stand by J. George and C. Eves icarried the total to 27 before the latter was clean bowled and from then on the remaining batsmen were dismissed in rapid succession. When the last wicket fell only 68 runs had been compiled. George (16) and W. Parlane (10) were the only two batsmen to record double figures. Bowling honours for (Nomads were shared by E. Beer and B. Budd, the former capturing six wickets for 47 runs and the latter .three for 13. Scores:
