M. Taylor) when speaking at the combined sports carnival at the Tauranga Racecourse on Saturday before the first of three races was started. Mr Taylor emphasised that everywhere outside of New Zealand greyhound racing was practically an industry. The betting in England last year was over £100,000,000. The Auckland club, Mr Taylor added, was stating its case jbefore the Gaming Commission and hoped to gain betting facilities for greyhound racing the Dominion. The New Zealand dogs compared favourably with those .bred in any other, .part of the world and dogs from the Dominion had recently been sold to Australian buyers at big prices, he concluded. The three events resulted as follow: First race (four dogs): "Desperado" (Mr M. Lawrence, Auckland) 1; "Mum's Pal' (Mr W. Parker, Tirau) 2; "Wong" (Mr G. Pa,ul, Auckland) 3. Second race (four dogs): "Royalty's Best" (Mr W. Parker) 1; "Ah Chee" (Mr G. Paul) 2, and "Chung Chong" (Mr, G. Paul) 3. ■ Third race (seven dogs): Pal" 1, "Desperado" 2, and "Wong" 3."
