Brilliant batting by R. Lindwall, Australia’s fast bowler, who scored a century, and D. Tallou, the wicketkeeper, who made 92, was a feature of the fifth day of play in the third cricket test match against England to-day. The pair added 154 runs in a seventh-wicket partnership in 88 minutes. Requiring 551 runs to win, England, which was 14 in arrears on the first innings, scored 91 without loss in its second innings, giving it prospects of making a drawn match.

Opening for England, Washbrock was in more confident mood, and scored 50 in 4 8 minutes. Hutton was uncertain, scoring bis first four after 90 minutes.
