Two hundred and fifty Australian servicemen and women, including; three V.C.’s have arrived at Portsmouth in the cruiser Shropshire lo take part in the Victory Day procession cn June IS.
They were received by the Australian resident Minister (Mr Beazley).
Here in London preparations for Victory Day are in full swing-. Flagpoles and loud speakers are being nut up and squads of workmen are erecting temporary grandstands. The sites of bombed buildings are beingscreened off traffic having to negotiate barriers which on Victory Day* will be used to close streets leading to the victory route.
Tiie great fly past by 25 Royal Air Force Squadrons 1000 feet above the head of the crowds will be controlled from the ground by means of radar by a former London hank clerk, Squadron Leader F. 11. Brown.
