Mr Mandeno expressed the opiuj 0 „ that it would be slightly cheaper and '.ess trouble if the new steam-heated sterilisers were installed in the hospital instead o? the present ones, He considered that there would lie a good sale for the present electric sterilisers in use by the hospital, Mr L. The cost cf oil, replied Mr Mandeno, was very high at the present time and from what he had learned there did not "eem to he much-pros-pect in the near future of any - big reduction. "I was thinking of the precarious situation that sometimes arises with coal supplies," remarked Mr Wilkinson. The board, said Mr Mandeno, would have to provide an oil storage tank and an air compressor, but lie added that it would not cost a great deal to provide an oil installation under the boiler at present installed in the hospital. The board decided that Mr Mandeno be given authority to call tenders immediately for the work of installing the high pressure hot water heat distribution in the hospital. "We were the first hospital to lie entirely dependent on electricity." remarked the secretary (Mr I'. Lumley) when pointing out that the installation of this scheme would be the hospital's second pioneering effort.
