RAGLAN BY-ELECTION H. Johnstone Is Returned Majority Of 194 Votes The'Raglan by-election which took place yesterday resulted in the National Party candidate being returned with a majority of 194 votes. The result of the poll with some of the forces’ votes included, was as follows: H. Johnstone (National) ..... 4027 A. C. Baxter (Labour) .... 4433 Majority for Johnstone .... 194 The by-election was made necessary by the death of Mr R. Coulter, M.P. (Labour), who was returned at the last General Election with a majority over the National Party candidate (Mr R. J. Glasgow) of 53 votes, the voting on that occasion being: Coulter, 4427; Glasgow, 4374.
