ACTIVITIES HAVE STARTED

MOUNT 5000 CLUB'S CARNIVAL FINANCIAL SUCCESS The Mount 5000 Club’s activities for the Christmas season began on Saturday evening when it is believed that the financial result from the sideshows was very pleasing. A Christmas hamper was won by Mr J. Dickin, while on Sunday evening a treasure trail competition was won by Mr D. Cray and Miss G. Pattie, the prizes being two expensive wristlet watches. There were 4 8 entries and the evening’s programme concluded with community singing in the Regent Theatre. The mountain race will be held on Thursday starting at 2.30 p.m. from the Mount Post Office. Mrs L. B. Mellish has donated a cup for this event and there are cash prizes of £lO, £3 and £2. On Christmas Day there will be Christmas carols by the combined church choir and the regatta and beauty contest on Wednesday.
